Ok, it might sound daft to go around calling oneself a Copy Ninja, but I didn’t just throw the name together. Because while “ninja” refers to the art of wordplay, it also references my hobby — the martial art of ninjutsu, which I’ve been practising for over seven years.

I’m better at writing than fighting though, and I’ve been working with words since before the turn of the millennium. Most of my work has involved writing and chief sub-editing for major magazines (including ten years at the BBC), but I’ve also written an 85,000-word science book for kids, been published in books about music and film, compiled band profiles for music festivals… Oh, and I run a wine website called The Wine Ninjas.

Yep, it’s those ninjas again. You can sense a theme emerging. Well, it’s all about branding, you know…
